The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe is the greatest game of all time, and I’ll explain why it’s such a masterpiece. But first, a little backstory. The Stanley Parable started as a Half Life mod, where a narrator told you where to go, and you had the option to disobey him. This simple yet unique concept then flourished into an indie game, The Stanley Parable. The Stanley Parable is an incredible game, the writing is clever and hilarious, as you can either go along with what the narrator says or disobey him to your heart’s content.
But let me ask you: did you get The Broom Closet Ending? The Broom Closet Ending was my favorite, I’m sure my friends will find this concerning. And while endings are being discussed, I think I should start with all the endings, then I’ll do the Ultra Deluxe endings once I get to that game. There’s The Freedom Ending, The Control Ending, The Insane Ending, The Broom Closet Ending, The Escape Ending, The Window Ending, The Safe Ending, The Red Door Ending, The Blue Door Ending, The Cargo Lift Ending, The Confusion Ending, The Unplug the Phone Ending, The Apartment Ending, The Whiteboard Ending, The Heaven Ending, The Baby Game Ending, and The Punishment Room Ending. The Punishment Room Ending is exclusive to the 2013 version of The Stanley Parable, as this game uses Valve’s Server Cheats system so that The Narrator can tell when you’re cheating. Eventually, the game got a Collector’s Edition by Indie Box.

But now we skip ahead to 2019, where we then receive our first trailer for The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. That’s right, we’re going back in time to the first Stanley Parable to get the greatest game ever on the menu! The Narrator reminds us that The Stanley Parable was robbed of receiving an award over Papers Please and The Last of Us, but he remembers something. “Wait-what do you mean we never put the game on consoles? Of course we put it on consoles! We didn’t?”. That’s right, 6 years later we finally got console ports of The Stanley Parable, with more content than ever before, “and everyone will buy it again because they’re suckers”. And then it got delayed to 2020, when 2021, but then it was released in 2022, and it was perfect.

The game was released April 27th, the same number as Stanley’s employee number, 427. The choice of release alone proved how incredible this game would be. Every ending in the game received a new version, where you’d have to take a Reassurance Bucket with you. On top of that, there were 7 new endings (if you include the Reassurance Bucket alternatives). And while The Punishment Room Ending wasn’t available to play through, it still made a cameo in The Memory Zone, a place where The Narrator stores all his best memories. Last year the game also received a Collector’s Edition by IAm8Bit. Please play Ultra Deluxe, it is the greatest thing, period.
